Akadeemik Anto Raukase hinnangul tuleb lõpetada rahvale puru silma ajamine, nagu tõuseks elektri hind vaid 20- 60 protsenti, sest tegelikult võib hinnatõus olla suisa 2,8 kordne.

“Mina olen vana mees ja pääsen sellest ära. Aga see puru silma ajamine, et elektri hind tõuseb ainult 20, 40 või 60 protsenti, tuleb ära lõpetada. Tegelikult võib elektri hind tõusta isegi ligi 2,8 korda ehk samale tasemel nagu praegu on Taanis,” hoiatab Raukas, vahendab Pealinn.

Saksamaa otsus loobuda tuumaenergiast mõjutab Põhjamaade energiaturu (NordPool Spot) kaudu otseselt ka meid, sest Eesti peab teatavasti oma energiaturu avama 2013. aastal. Itaallased hääletasid äsjasel referendumil tuumaenergia vastu. Prantsusmaalt saaksid sakslased osta vaid tuumaenergiat. Nii ei jäägi neil muud üle, kui osta elektrit Põhjamaade turult ja panna käima kivisöel töötavad elektrijaamad,» selgitab Raukas.

“Kui Saksamaa hakkab elektrit ostma Skandinaaviast, siis lööb see ka meil hinnad üles. Kivisöejaamadest elektri tootmine aga kruvib CO2 kvoodid lakke, mis muudab ka põlevkivist elektri tootmise arutult kalliks. Seetõttu läheb ka uus põlevkivielektrijaam, mida Eesti Energia ehitama hakkab, meile meeletult kalliks maksma,” ütleb Raukas.

Raukase sõnu kinnitab OÜ Energiasalv uuring «Elektrisüsteemi areng 2023», millest selgub, et kui sotsiaalmajanduslikud kulud juurde arvata, siis läheb põlevkivist elektri tootmine kaks korda kallimaks kui tuumajaam ja kolm korda kallimaks kui balansseeritud tuuleenergia kasutamine. “CO2 hinna eeldatava tõusu korral kaotavad fossiilseid kütuseid kasutavad elektrijaamad konkurentsivõime. Eriti halvas olukorras on põlevkivijaamad, mis emiteerivad CO2 kõige rohkem,” räägib OÜ Energiasalv osanik Peep Siitam.

Eesti Energia nõukogu aga kiitis neljapäeval ainuaktsionäri ehk riiki esindava majandusministri Juhan Partsi otsusele tuginedes heaks uue põlevkivielektrijaama ehituse Narva lähedale Auverre. Uue elektrijaama esimene 300 MW võimsusega plokk valmib 2015. aasta lõpuks, teise sama võimsa ploki rajamine otsustatakse 2012. aastal.

Uue jaama vajalikkuses kahtlejaid leidus nii EE juhatuses kui ka nõukogu liikmete seas, samuti leidis põhivõrgufirma Elering, et Eestis jätkub piisavalt tootmisvõimsusi veel kümneks aastaks. Narvas töötab praegu kaks moodsat 215-megavatist elektrijaama, mis teeb kokku 430 MW. Uued ja vanad Narva elektrijaamad kokku aga suudavad praegu toota üle 2500 MW elektrienergiat.

Küsimus on eelkõige selles, et lõppkokkuvõttes maksab nii uue elektrijaama toetuse kui ka suured investeeringud kinni tarbija. Pole ju teada, kas Euroopa Komisjon annab loa toetada uut jaama tasuta jagatava kasvuhoonegaaside kvoodi kaudu, nagu valitsus kavatseb.

“Põlevkivi elektrijaamades põletamine on üldse ebaotstarbekas, sest põlevkiviõli ja sellest vedelkütust tootes on kasumlikkus kordades suurem – 30-50 eurot tonni kohta,” leiab Siitam.

Teda toetab ka Eesti Arengufondi nõukogu esimees Raivo Vare: “Põlevkivi elektriks põletades läheb sellest väga palju lihtsalt kaduma. Põlevkiviõli baasil elektri tootmine oleks efektiivsem ja keskkonnasõbralikum.”

What Is A Light Emitting Diode [LED]?

The LED is a semiconductor device made from a combination of chemically polarised semiconductors. The chemical composition is selected to define the energy of the electrons that pass across the boundary between the two types of semiconductors. This energy is converted to light as electrons flow through the device. The electron defines the wavelength of the resultant coloured light.

LEDs in Illumination - Overcoming Inherent Limitations

Essentially illumination uses white light and LEDs inherently are incapable of producing white light. However, LED technology has at least two ways of overcoming this limitation.

The first method pioneered by Nichia of Japan in 1996, involves the coating of a blue Led with phosphor. When the blue light hits the surface of the phosphor, it emits white light. This technology is commonly seen in commercial applications but the degradation of the phosphor coating over time places its estimated lifespan at about 6 years.

Alternately, another method of producing white light by mixing the three primary colours red, green and blue is finding some applications. The drawback here however is that given the nature of additive mixing, the white tends to be inconsistent in its spectrum.
