Light Output — Making sure it’s bright enough

The energy savings are significant, and that means lower electricity bills. Light output is measured in lumens at the light source. To determine if the light is bright enough, be sure that it produces sufficient lumens to meet your needs. Ask your lighting supplier for advice on how much light you need for different parts of your home.

Color Temperature — Specify the light color you want

Different light bulbs emit different colors of light. Lighting color ranges from cool to warm tones, and is known as color temperature. The color temperature of a light source indicates the color of the light emitted measured in degrees Kelvin. Color Temperature is not an indicator of lamp heat. The chart below shows a range of color temperatures, from warm to cool.

Color Rendering — Accurate color replication

Color rendering index (CRI) is a measure of how accurately an artificial light source displays colors. CRI is determined by comparing the appearance of a colored object under an artificial light source to its appearance under incandescent light. The higher the CRI, the better the artificial light source is at rendering colors accurately. High (above 80) CRI is preferred in the home.

Fluorescent

White 35 or 23 This produces a standard white light.	Warm White 29 or 30 This produces a welcoming & friendly white light.
Cool White 33 or 20 This produces a brighter white light.

Extra Warm White 827 This produces a very warm shade of white.	Warm White 830 This produces a warm shade of white.
White 835 This produces a traditional standard white finish.	Cool White 840 This is the coolest of the colours which gives a clinical finish.
Daylight 860 This produces a natural daylight effect.

Finish and Color

Pearl Gives a soft, diffused light.	Clear Gives a clear and bright light.
Opal A coated finish on the bulb gives a softer diffused light	Frosted A thicker coating to the opal bulb, giving an even more diffused and softer light.
Coloured Most of the lamps shown in this catalogue are available in a range of colours.	Daylight The finish on these lamps give a virtual daylight output of colour.

Double Ended Halogen Available in 2 sizes, 78mm & 118mm. These measurements give the overall length of the lamps.	Fluorescent Tubes Available in 3 different sizes, 16mm(T5), 25mm(T8) & 38mm(T12). These measurements give the diameter of the tube & they also come in a variety of lengths & colours. The same wattage must be replaced at all times.
